Year of the Golden Tiger - 2010
February 14, 2010 is the start of the year of the Golden Tiger, with the elements of Metal on top of Wood. Metal and Wood clash as they are part of the destructive cycle of the elements so this year is expected to bring many changes with possible upheavals in society and governments, including revolutions. International conflicts may intensify and escalate and peace is harder to negotiate. This may just end up being an ongoing war of words between countries, but the Metal element cuts Wood and therefore symbolizes a weapon like a sword and may indicate increased warfare, particularly involving metal weapons of all kinds with various countries taking sides against each other. Large scale natural disasters in the form of earthquakes, volcanoes or other weather related catastrophes are also possible with an increased chance of damage to trees, either by drought, forest fires or volcanoes and unfortunately forecasts the possibility of many human and animal casualties. Travel is well aspected this year as Tigers like to wander, so the travel industry, tourism and the airlines should do very well and many people will experience wanderlust.
This is not a good year for taking financial risks and property will only slowly improve in value. The banking industry, computer companies, transportation and manufacturing plants with machinery and high tech medicine or medicine involving metal implements and machinery, including acupuncture, surgery and in-vitro fertilization all look to improve as they are metal element businesses. Wood element businesses that involve logging or paper including home building and construction, newspaper and magazines and environmental companies will all have a difficult year. There will be an increase in exports for most first world countries, but trade wars are also likely and contaminated products will continue to be problem as quality control will become more important and inspectors will become more vigilant.
It is a problematic year for health, particularly for those with weakened immune systems and many people will have trouble with their lungs, their colons and intestinal systems and their skin. There is likely to be a problem with air pollution and sandstorms or influenza with many people suffering from breathing problems, increased allergic reactions or skin inflammation. It is also likely that there will be outbreaks of severe intestinal problems possibly due to natural disasters. Clean air and water will become even more important to governments than before.
Emotions will be volatile. This is a year of passionate love affairs, strong feelings and many quarrels. Men with strong magnetism will be favored and many rash plans will be made and competition will be increased between individuals and countries. Heroes of every kind will emerge and be honored. Athletes will do well this year, which bodes well for the Winter Olympics, except there is a heightened risk and danger of accidents. Strong male energy and masculine strength is considered particularly charismatic this year.
As the Tiger is often viewed as a Chinese symbol of a King or a Military Commander, Royalty is favorable viewed in a metal year and strong military leaders will also be admired. Justice is another important aspect of a Tiger year and the weak, downtrodden and repressed can now find champions to take up their causes. Therefore, the legal profession will flourish for those attorneys who uphold human rights. This is a good year for brothers getting along and for male friendship and bonding, but the energies of the Tiger year also gives increased strength to other groups of men such as gangs and the military. Charitable giving will increase as people will feel the urge to give to those who are suffering. There will be many stories of strength, stamina and courage that inspire.
People will be feeling more adventurous and athletic. There is a strong desire to get more involved in causes they believe in. There will be a renewed interest in keeping homes safe and protecting children as Tigers are very protective of their territory and their cubs, and children around the world will need extra protection this year.

This is a year of big ups and downs and won’t be an easy ride. Rats will be very busy and may travel a lot. They must show initiative to succeed and opportunities must be grasped. However, Rats are resourceful animals and they should be able to manage the chaotic energies of the year.

Oxes need to be careful with money this year and not overspend or gamble. People and circumstances will seem to be continuously annoying. However, Oxes are strong and can handle the drama of the Tiger year although they won’t always enjoy the fast pace of the world.
Tiger – Wood Element: 1914, 1926, 1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010
This is a wonderful year for Tigers and they can achieve and prosper. However, they need to avoid being overly enthusiastic or moving too fast. Remember to save money as this can be an expensive year for Tigers. It has been awhile since they have felt as expansive and energetic.
Rabbit – Wood Element: 1915, 1927, 1939, 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999, 2011
This is a good year for romance and starting new relationships and projects. This should also be very sociable year. The biggest stress to the Rabbit is the problems that friends and family members have as they care about those close to them, but overall a lot of little things go very well for them.

This can be a fortunate year for Dragons as opportunities come involving romance and business. But Dragons must be careful not to be reckless in spending their money or overusing their emotions. New relationships may have an element of danger and more travel is likely.

This may be a difficult year for Snakes as they will feel hurried and abandoned. They need to spend more time looking back in order to plan for the future. Limit indulgences or you will be criticized. Expect to be more irritated and frustrated than usual with others.

This is an unstable year for Monkeys and many will feel depressed or unmotivated. Monkeys should avoid causing trouble and should sit back and let things happen without much input. This is a year of good fortune for the Dog and they should be quite happy. There is a good chance for expansion professionally and possibly a promotion. It can end up being a very social year and good for travel and romance.

This is a turbulent year for the Pig and home life is not as calm as they would like. There could be problems with the home or the people in it and Pigs can spend much more money than they like to spend. But things will end up harmonious by year’s end.
